In the field of genome analysis, particularly secondary analysis processing the vast data output from next-generation sequencers, GATK—developed by the Broad Institute—is widely used as the gold standard (de facto standard) by research institutions and clinical settings worldwide.
While fast analysis systems significantly reducing computation time have existed, many employed methods approximating GATK's algorithms, resulting in minor discrepancies in analysis outcomes. Consequently, in research and diagnostic settings, the time-consuming GATK remained the norm due to concerns about result compatibility and reliability.
